My classroom is all about teaching and learning, therefore, maintaining an environment so these two tasks can be accomplished is very important. All students were informed the first week of school what my behavior expectations are while they are in my classroom. If students do not meet these expectations, they are given a verbal warning with hopes they will take it upon themselves to correct the behavior(s). Should they continue to display inappropriate behavior(s), then a second warning is given and parents are notified via an email, phone call, or both. If the students continue with the inappropriate behavior and receive a 3rd warning, then a Behavior Report will be sent home to be signed notifying the parent(s) that their child's grade has been lowered which will be indicated on the Behavior Report.
All students start with an "S" which is Satisfactory in both grading categories, Academics and Conduct. If they put forth extra effort by completing extra credit assignments, classwork correctly, and participating regularly in class, they can earn an "E" which is Excellent or Exemplary. Students who regularly do not complete their work or do not participate in class will receive an "N" which is "Needs Improvement".
Please keep in mind that receiving anything less than an "S" in any Specials class will put your child's Honoor Roll status in jeopardy. Some students have a tendency to not realize this because they think that Specials is "fun time". While we want your student(s) to have fun in Specials, they need to remember that Specials are AKS based classes and their grade counts!
I will make every effort to keep you informed if your child's grade is in jeopardy of anything below an "S". If you ever have any questions regarding your child's grade, please do not hesitate to contact me.
